That's not a realistic comparison - those other books are presented as fiction by the people who wrote them. The Bible wasn't.

If you don't believe the Bible is true, I can understand you not wanting to accept it as "proof" of God, but I think you need a stronger reason to dismiss it than the one you've mentioned.

So just because somebody says the Bible isn't fiction makes it so? What about The Quran or the Book of Mormon of any of those other religious books / religions out there all claiming to be correct?

Why is it that in a religious person's eyes that it is impossible for the Universe to exist without a creator, but that nobody needed to create God? It is such contradictory thinking IMO.

Religion is, in my eyes, a way of controlling the masses.

Thanks. Those are some worthwhile questions, but that wasn't the claim I was making in my comment.

I wasn't saying the you should believe that the Bible isn't fiction because somebody says it isn't. I was pointing out that the comparison between the Bible to books that are purposely written and presented as fictional is not a realistic comparison.

In your original meme, you didn't talk about other religious books like the Quran or the Book of Mormon. You compared it to books like Chronicles of Narnia and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which is a different category.

Do you agree that it's not a realistic comparison to make?

I actually do not. The bible to me is just as much a work of fiction as the other books I mention in my meme, which is why to me and to the other people who believe the Bible is fiction will find this meme entirely accurate.

I could say that the book I'm writing about humans colonizing another world is a book of prophecy, but would that make it so? Just saying...

Makes sense. Just because someone claims something is true, doesn't make it true.

I can understand both sides, but sometimes the arguments on one of the suides or another can be inane. The atheists' "there is little evidence SO FAR, so god does not exist no matter what" and the christian's "the bible is 100% perfect because the bible says so", but there are bad arguments and good arguments on both sides.

We have no irrefutable proof of a god existing.
We have irrefutable proof of life older than 6000 years old, in the form of fossils.
We still have no fockin clue how the universe started, its the big bang "*THEORY*".
