My Clay Ballard GIF is a better illustration of the hip bump ...this guy over does it ...it is a slight weight shift left onto the inside of your left foot

the bump left is part of the transition between BS and DS. At the start of BS, you sit into your right glute and pivot around your right hip socket. At top of BS, you bump left...change the pivot location to your left hip... and rotate on your left hip in the DS

in sync with the bump left, drop the club shaft onto a shallower plane (below hands) for a rotational strike powered by the torso ...not arms

IDEALLY THE hips should stay wound up during the bump left ...golfer here has hips face on ...should have the left hip more in front

...first move in transition is a bump left . Moves the swing arc a few inches left for a descending strike on ball, vacates space on right side so club can come thru from in to out and shifts weight to left side for pivoting on the left hip (not the spine which leads to injury)

Make sure you do not bump (slide) beyond the heel line ...must stay "stacked" on left side.
