dang I just realized this is like, really rude, huh? Anyway I just want to clarify that only some sped kids are overly clingy like this and act that way because they're not used to kids treating them up to any kind of high standard. Like I remember there was this autistic kid I knew who made a pretty funny joke that I laughed at randomly and complimented, and he would keep bringing it up every time I re-met him for like the next 6 months because no one really compliments those people out of public shame, so when someone makes a small compliment, it means the world to them. Personally, I think the root of the issue boils down to parents over-babying their special needs kids, so that they tend to overreact when unexpected things happen to them, but there's a lot more. you can do more research on your own and here's a link to donate if you want:
