Castile was a nation that existed from 1065-1716, but they became the Kingdom of Spain in 1716 and was in a Union with Leon in 1230 and later with Aragon in 1479. Granada was an Islamic Emirate that existed from 711-1491. Castile, as well as the other Christian Kingdoms in Iberia, spent 700 years fighting Muslims to get them out of Iberia, and particuarily Granada from 1250-1491.
