They rejected God and worshipped themselves or created their own God to worship instead. Christianity is not self-centered unlike other religions; which is proof that it's true. For in Luke 9:23 it is written that "Whoever wants to be my disciple must DENY THEMSELVES and take up their cross DAILY and FOLLOW me" This is what Jesus spoke of.

Picking up your cross is hard. It's a whole lot of weight to carry, so it's easier for people not to carry their crosses.
Why doesn't God let everyone in his kingdom?
God doesn't want people who don't care enough about their relationship with him in his kingdom.
He wants people who WANT to work hard to enter his kingdom.

He created the first, Old, covenant with the Abraham and fulfilled it with the death and resurrection of Jesus. This is a relationship with God, not a religion. This was the second, or new, covenant. He didn't create "people of other religions". He created people and they created a god and a religion to go with it.
