I don't get mods. personally I believe you can't improve the base game

Fair enough, though there are a ton of quality of life mods that don’t alter the content of the game, just improve performance and stuff like that.

i think some mods improve (mostly perfomance mods) while others just change it up. maybe backpacks would ruin mc normally but trying a world with a backpack mod can be fun. maybe too many biomes in mc would overcomplicate things but doing a playthrough with biomes 'o plenty and terralith can be a fun change. bored of mc's look? try shaders and resource packs. again, just to change it up.

How am I supposed to get non marketplace mods if I'm on ps5? Or console in general?

You can’t, that’s the problem with bedrock, they can’t do full mod support for console ever but they could at least make the marketplace stuff free, because nobody who plays bedrock on pc is going to pay for that stuff anyways

i mean some mods are fun but to get the good experience you have to play the base game first

If course, vanilla is peak. But after playing it for about 14 years it gets a little repetitive, and mods add an unlimited amount of content

Sorry, but I’ve played bedrock all my life and never noticed any mods, though the marketplace is annoyingly expensive, there’s some really great mods on there and they all work together really smoothly. If you’re on pc/tablet bedrock, you ca also use curseforge for mods. Also, none of the marketplace mods have ever been buggy for me.

The more recent marketplace addons probably are higher quality and less buggy, I haven’t bought one in a very long time (before I had Java) and certainly won’t again. They just really shouldn’t be able to charge 8-10$ for something that is objectively better on Java, there’s nothing on the marketplace that comes close to Java mods/modpacks, but yes this is something you can just never notice when playing for a long time and that’s completely fine, my point is basically Microsoft is a horrible company
