When you leave e.g. Jehova's Witnesses, at least you "just" lose all who are still JW's, as they're technically not allowed to speak to you no more. Similar deal with Scientology.
But no life threatening situations...
I wouldn’t be so sure about Scientology, but yeah. Islam is one of the most aggressive religions ever. Religious extremists are the leading cause of atheism.
