I don't support Trump doing it, as a general policy. I'm in favor of limited govt. But just because I would prefer he didn't have to do this, it doesn't mean it won't turn out well. Let's be real here, Toejoe, some big (well most big) DEM-run cities are just out of control. Would you let your kids or your parents walk alone through a poor DC neighborhood?
Of course not.
So while I don't know that what Trump is doing in DC is the best approach, it's absolutely better than just maintaining the status quo with crime out of control.

1. I'm not a conservative. 2. no matter what I am, I absolutely am all about small govt. and individual freedoms. So what do I believe is govt's role? First and foremost, it's keeping its citizen safe from all enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC. That's pretty easily balanced against "freedoms" when you have responsible (and moderately well educated) citizens. When you have crazy criminals running around like animals, that does not mean law abiding citizens have forfeited their rights.
As usual, the left believes the so called 'rights' of criminals trump those of law abiding citizens when they seem to be in conflict. I do not believe that's the case. Nobody has to give up their rights in order for someone else to exercise their rights. Not with reasonable, law abiding folks.
