WELL I’M GLAD YOU ASKED!!!!
Redout 2 is one of the best examples of anti-gravity racing games that have come out recently, and I’m having a lot of fun. Gives you a challenge and has very interesting strafing mechanics. It starts you out slow in it’s career mode so you’re ready for the tracks at higher speeds, though combat is almost non-existent. Don’t worry if you crash out, in most race types, you can respawn or rewind.
If you want something Retro, most Anti-Gravity racing games will say in their description they are inspired by F-Zero and WipEout, both haven’t had a new installment in a while.
Many consider F-Zero GX to be the greatest game of the series, and also consider it to be a “Dark Souls” of racing games for its insane difficulty and tech. Though all the same it’s pick up and play so you can learn the basics. It’s jam packed with content, and if you can beat everything on its maximum difficulty, you unlock all of the content from its arcade machine counterpart, F-Zero AX. I have not played this game, but judging from experience with F-Zero X and gameplay clips I’ve seen on the F-Zero subreddit, it looks like a hell of a time. By the way, you can crash other racers out and get rewarded for it, just be sure not to crash yourself out in the process. They also have “suicide finishes” where if you run out of power and crash out, you can still pass the finish line as long as your machine hasn’t exploded yet.
As for WipEout, I believe I’ve only played one game, and it is pretty fun. I just haven’t had a chance to finish it yet. WipEout last I checked is exclusive to the Playstation. I played WipEout 2042, it’s combat revolves around weapon pads placed around the track for offensive and defensive items. I believe in most races you can respawn, unlike F-Zero.
