the flatland example falls apart because it'd be showing a 3d object to a 0d creature which doesn't rlly work

Yeah we can only percieve things as if they were 2 dimensional so I guess we're screwed

this would be the 3 dimensional shadow of a 4 dimensional shadow of a 5 dimensional shadow of a 6-cube

I've been trying to wrap my head around tesseracts for a few weeks up to this point but I just can't lmao

it may look weird, but it's similar to how the shadow of a wire frame cube will have squares that move around and 'become' the bigger outside square, before 'becoming' the smaller inside square, and despite looking like being connected by just lines, those are just skewed squares.

Those skewed squares just look like rhombuses or something... squares are really strictly defines shapes, so when I see the lopsided ones on a tesseract I just don't see how they're still squares/cubes

It just looks like a squished cube

Tesseracts look strange because they have a 4th dimebsion that we can't visualize. If you've seen a gif/video of a Tesseract spinning, it might help to remind yourself that it's made up of 8 cubes, think about a flat 2d gif of a cube rotating, despite those squares being very skewed, they're still squares.

Yeah I researched, it just looks like it's being flipped inside out over and over instead of rotating
