I don't know why Frisk made their descent into Mt. Ebbott, but I'm fairly certain that Chara made theirs as a suicide attempt.

Chara would probably do that yeah. Frisk I think just accidentally fell while going to a cool mountain that people say kills people. Idk how frisk survived though. Chara falls and gets saved by a goat child, Frisk falls and gets assaulted with friendliness pellets.
