It also gives you a small energy boost since it is a stimulant, but yes, it does bind to the adenosine receptors to prevent the feeling of tiredness.

I usually wake up and stay awake when drinking it. Too much does have that affect.

It's probably genetics or caffeine tolerance.

Some people just have more adenosine receptors due to genetics which causes them to need more than the regular amount.

Tolerance is when people get used to it and it stops working.

Caffeine is technically a psychoactive substance, and some religions don't drink coffee because of this, but here is my question: What about chocolate?

chocolate does give energy, especially dark chocolate cos of the theobromine which is actually a heart stimulator so it has no real effect on you except energy (unless you get a caffeine chocolate bar, that is)

if im sleepy i just sleep, i cant properly stimulate my brain to keep me awake
