I think I'm an Obama era Democrat

Where is "We stole this land from the native peoples, built the economic base with kidnapped and enslaved foreigners, interfered in neighboring countries politics and stole their resources, and ruined the climate so people have to migrate, so we don't deserve to even have borders?"

This was about national security and economy - not international politics. Without the former you don't have a country, so that's a given first priority for any society.
But yeah, the political establishment still enjoys war-economics and the voters that come from the immigration

I'm not convinced societies need "countries." At least not the individual led nation states that we know. That model is fast becoming obsolete.

I made this a while back.

Obsolete in that the sovereignty and welfare systems that us in Scandinavia are very proud of are getting attacked by globalists. In the U.S it's now both globalists and Lobbyists that fight the people. I have never been a fan of my politicians getting all orders from those who aren't the people. It never works out for anyone.
In many ways we're not evolutionary built for the big cities in those countries, which is basically centralization. But we can't go back to small tribal societies either.

Nobody needs to force economic meltdown. With the evisceration of the biosphere on which we depend and the resulting population decline, it is absolutely inevitable. And it makes certain kinds of globalism absolutely necessary.

We must evolve to adapt to the grave mistakes we've made with nationalism and finance capitalism or we'll go extinct. And I suggest we start building replacement institutions since our current ones are doomed.

We don't want the fascists to build the inevitable new world order.

"National security" and "economy" are two philosophical constructs that I think need to be replaced.
