Back when I joined, emojis didn’t work, you’d see a question mark in its place. That changed, but I think they’d only show up on a phone, not on a PC. Maybe they work on both now. I started using the smiley face right from the start, it’s even in my tagline, or whatever it’s called. That’s been almost 9 years now. When I saw your comment, I was like, hey, I remember that happened before, lol. 😁
