It’s simple, you have a something someone wants and that someone pays you for the thing they want at the given price.

Actually it's more like this

One person owns the tools for a job and hires other people to use them. But since the owner owns the tools the owner gets money off them instead of the people using the tools. So the people using the tools are not in control and the owner can literally decide whether they can eat or not.

Communism is where the person using the tools owns them. Along with other people. And people get what they need. No hierarchies in the workplace.
