He was tired of the cycle of children murdering their parents (such as how Zeus killed his father, and Kratos killed Zeus)

So he took matters into his own hands

Kratos also defied the prophecy of his death by refusing to kill Thor

He just puts his weapon away and goes "We must be better, for the sake of our children"

The Kratos and Thor teamup would've been absolutely insane

But Odin comes in, gets mad that Thor doesn't want to follow his orders anymore, and kills Thor

Which leads to the final boss fight between Odin

Well rats

Kratos, Atreus, and Freya that team up on Odin and mallywhop him

Atreus uses magic to essentially put Odin's soul inside of a marble once he's defeated

They stare at the marble wondering what to do with it

Then Sindri (a dwarf who's brother got killed by Odin) walks in MAD, grabs the marble, pulls out a hammer, smashes the marble, goes "There", and proceeds to walk away
