Back in the day, Republicans like Dwight D Eisenhower and even Richard Nixon were in favor of things like paid family leave, livable wage, etc. but these days when a politician advocates for those things, they deemed a "communist tyrant" even though those policies are not the equivalent of Marxist socialism.
