A kilometre (km) is a metric unit of measurement that’s 1000 metres long and converts to 0.621 miles. Unlike the imperial system kilometres are much easier to convert with other metric units such as metres (m), centimetres (cm) and millimetre (mm) because you just multiply everything by 10,100 and 1000. 10mm is 1cm. 1m is 100cm. 1km is 1000m.
