Ah, old minecraft. When the textures were still 8 bit, and ambient lighting didn't exist yet, and when Steve and later, Alex were the only characters in the game. There weren't any custom suits and hairs, and you couldn't make custom characters.

Textures were always actually 16x16 (still are) and you could make custom skins later in 2009 if my brain is braining right
