The only prize worth obtaining

Why race? I would prefer to enjoy the earth god has made for us before I ascend to a greater place

Definitely not about hurrying through it. Consider it a focus issue. In any long distance event, we focus on doing all the optimal things to make it to the end. We shouldn't, for instance, enslave ourselves to drugs, alcohol, or any other vice in our pursuit of eternity. These and many other things can easily shift our focus from God.

And we aren't running to defeat anyone. It's more like the original marathon. The soldier who ran from marathon to the Senate.

Then again in 2 Tim 4:7, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." I also believe taking our time to be a bad idea. We are indeed striving against time as it is running down. I believe there is, relatively, little time left. Getting the Word to as many as possible before time runs out is of utmost importance.

I agree, but I wouldn't say run or race because people would tend to mistaken run to go fast and we must live life at it's fullest and take our time.

Running a race comes from Paul. "Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth a prize? So run, that ye may obtain." 1 Cor 9:24. But we are always in a race. The year of our birth to the year of our death will be separated by - , the dash.

Definitely praying for people like this. We are closer all the time to the second coming and I want no one experiencing the wrath of God
