Short answer: yes
Long answer: Jesus paid the price for every sin. No matter what the person has done, if they repent and give themselves to God then they will be saved. As for how you forgive them, that’s a little more complex. Essentially forgiveness is not excusing what the person did, it’s letting go of the hurt and pain the person caused you. If that makes any sense

If I don't forgive someone for the pain and hurt they caused me, is there a different outcome or do they still go to heaven?

Wether or not they go to heaven is completely up to them. Your forgiveness has nothing to do with it. It’s a very good thing to forgive people though.

Why would a person treat someone well if their courtesy has nothing to do with their fate in the afterlife?
The pain I cause to others has nothing to do with me going to heaven?

No technically not but there are things to consider. The point of Christianity is to align your will with Gods will. Repent from your sins and be saved. Repenting is not saying sorry, repenting as used in Hebrew ( context of the Bible) but rather is saying sorry and turning away from your sin. So if you aren’t turning from your sins or even trying to turn away from your sins then you aren’t actually repenting, and it clearly says you must repent from your sins and believe that Jesus died and rose again to be saved. If you don’t repent then salvation is not possible. If you do repent then you heart will be turned by the Spirit to not do those things again. So no you can’t just cause others pain, say sorry and go to heaven. It actually requires effort and showing love.

Because it is the right thing to do
Absolutely not. You are responsible for your own actions, on earth and in heaven. Your past can be anything but if you repent to Jesus and try to better in your daily life you will be saved.

So if someone murders an entire town with a thriving population of 182,113 people, god would just forgive them?

Man if my child was a serial killer I would disown them ngl

The example that I use is the man on the cross next to Jesus. We have no idea what sins he had done, but he was being put to death for them. But even if you are seconds from death, you still have another chance at forgiveness.

Ok so I was reading the comments on this image and I got some stuff to add. I want to start by saying that Christianity’s goal is not merely to get you to heaven. That’s not the point, if god wanted that he could have done a number of different things, the most extreme of which would be would simply be revoking our free will. Since we have free will we know what God really cares about us not our physical condition but rather that of our spiritual condition. Forgiveness is more than letting go. Essentially forgiveness is the human equivalent of a reboot button. Forgiveness has a few goals. It is to get rid of your feelings of anguish, and anger. Gods’ goal is to give you “ peace beyond understanding “ and forgiveness is the act of admitting that you will not longer hold on to a terrible action of another human. It gives you peace. But that’s not the end, God doesn’t just want you to have peace but rather he wants that for all of his creation. Forgiveness then is saying to God, “ I am not the Judge of this world, you are. You have decided that peace for all even though they do evil is the way and maybe I don’t agree but I want to agree, so help me to understand your way will and how to carry it out”. So can you forgive someone no matter what they did. Not only can you but you must. It is the only cure to the human condition. Love is forgiveness and God is love therefore to forgive to be one with God. God is not merely about the next life because he sees no next life. You live and you “die” and then keep living. So did you really die at all, no you simply moved. In the knowledge of this God cares about the peace in our souls, and through that peace we go to heaven, not the other way around

can you pls give a TL;DR
1 up, 11mo
absolutely!

God says "if you beg me for forgiveness and repent of your sins, I remember them no more."
It doesn't matter how small or big the sin was, if you truly believe that Christ can change your life, you can absolutely repent of all your sin and shame.
