I've come to understand why pointing out their hypocrisy never really lands. It's because for them, they're not being hypocrites.

And I don't mean it in a "everyone sees themselves as the good guy" kinda way.

I mean it in, they implicitly understand that the rules don't apply to them. Not really. They have special exemption from the rules. Exceptions will be made for them. And the rules they say they hold important? Those rules are only for punishing the people they don't like.

As long as they remain in power.

And so doing or saying anything to remain in power, and thus being able to use the rules to punish people they don't like, is perfectly acceptable.

Their religion functions exactly the same way. Sin? It doesn't matter what I do. Jesus will forgive me, and I get to go to heaven.

But you?

No. You broke the rules and he's not going to forgive you. You get to go to Hell.

Nicely done. Question is, why only them?

Like why are they the only ones to get exceptions to the rules?
Or do I think they (being the conservatives) are the only ones doing it?

Is it because, politically speaking, Democrats are weak? Afraid to rock the political boat? Could fighting fire with fire lead to consequence igniting circumstances that the Dems can't handle, or the Nation?

How much is too much before it becomes too much?
