We could get rid of butterflies and we would still have enough insects to pollinate plants

And in the mean time we wouldn’t have to worry about caterpillars destroying 10% of our food supply every year

You do have a point, but there are some species that depend on caterpillars and butterflies for food, and if you take that away the food web will go out of wack
