Actually, they did. When I was still in the fandom, I got stalked, harassed, banned, humiliated, threatened, thrown under the bus, calls and attempts to change my sexuality and convinced to become suicidal no thanks to people who called themselves my "friends," and told it was MY fault just for existing because those who caused it "don't act like that unless provoked." What's worse is, they're like a protected group now, so the internet doesn't like you talking bad about them.
Not all of them are bad, but the fandom is full of bullies, activists, haters, overly-judgemental egotists and perverts who don't like when people say anything that shows them in a bad light, even when it's shown to them.

I'm sure most people do, and not just that, but a lot of furry art in general, including art and fanfics where they take already-established characters and stories and change them to fit their sexual liking

Yeah, sorry to say, but I know discrimination and pointing fingers is popular, but is rarely warranted. No group is innocent by nature nor should be immune from criticism. There's plenty of furries I've met who distance themselves from the fandom because they don't want to be associated with such people.

Blind hate is wrong, yes, but standing by bad behavior and believing a person or group to be innocent by nature, incapable of wrongdoing or seeing them as above others in society is cult-like.
