I've been out of school for a few years, but when I was still in, a large number of folks at the parent-teacher events complained about the insane amount of homework. There's no reason it should take most of the night! It overwhelms, overstresses and demotivates the kids.
Not saying no homework at all is the solution because it's good to practice what you learned, especially if it's a school that still teaches them things that'll be useful later on instead of a woke curriculum, but it's beyond becoming a sick joke at this point to just focus on giving kids more and more work to do.
