If you have 1/2 a cup of butter instead of 1 cup of butter thats half of what you're supposed to have so you cut all the measurements in half so the recipe is 1/2 cup of dutter, 2 cups flour, 1/4 cup of sugar, and 2 teaspoons of vanilla.
