That used to happen a lot. A litter of kittens would be born under your house or in your yard and it seems like the dad would just grab them all put them in a sack and then go drowning in a lake somewhere. No s***. This actually used to happen and probably still doesn't some places. That's why it's dark humor it's funny and a little bit of Truth to it.
If a female cat abandons her kittens it's not uncommon for the father male cat to return everyday or so to kill off and sometimes eat the weakest kitten until the mother returns or until all of the kittens are dead.

Dark humor minus the humor, and yet you are humored enough to laugh. Equals dark humor. This cartoon is very old so I'm thinking that there were a lot of psychopaths back in the day that thought this was funny.
its not that they were psychos its just something that happened a lot at the time and they put a little joke in for it its like how we made fun of trump killing that one guy it's just cause it just happened but if you think back on it now its kinda messed up
