I’m not trying to start a war here, but The Last Jedi was essentially Reylo Fanfiction, the Movie

Just from the fact that it divided the fan base like that, it was a failure for the brand, from a business perspective. It was also clearly a very poorly-written script.

But I may not be the best judge, since I thought The Force Awakens was much more of a franchise-breaker than The Last Jedi. I don't think fans called it out, since Star Wars fans are actually incredibly forgiving, and need to be pushed and pushed before they turn their backs on Star Wars.

As one who entered the fandom via the sequels, I always felt the fans weren’t really giving it a chance, but I’ve been trying to see out of their eyes.

I still like the property overall better than Star Trek, though. Nope, we're definitely not trying to start wars in this comment section. No sir. 😀

I think it had flaws IN the beginning, middle, and end (but also that it could be said that it had good things in those parts, too). I phrased it like that just to make the joke / cheap shot.

You'd have a very interesting perspective, entering the fandom from the sequels. That's very different from someone who grew up with the original trilogy (for example), and is trying to make sense of what Disney is trying to do. :-)

Ah, well in that case, I agree. I also generally have opinions that differ from expectations, at least besides Marvel, but yeah. At this point, I enjoyed the prequels for the memes, the sequels for the ships, and the originals for everything. Also, I love the entire soundtrack because John Williams is our Music Lord and Savior. Point being, though, that unlike a lot of the fandom, I didn’t hate the sequels.
