migraine aura

This is the absolute best example I've seen of what I was dealing with today. Trying to explain this is very difficult but I was able to show my colleague why I had difficulty reading what was in front of me. This mornning's versio had aboouot three of these blighters

wow, note to self: do not take selfies of or taunt the migraine aura...a second one was just sent along...this one isn't a backward C it's a forward C...i'll try not to read anything into that other than do not taunt the aura

Y'know, I've tried to make other gifs that show how, for me anyway, they start off small and gradually grow larger, but this one gif actually tends to set them off so I haven't been brave enough to try making another. I'm fortunate I don't get a migraine afterward, just the aura. Sometimes I've had up to 5 in a day...I've even been woken from sleep by one once...yet sometimes I go months without any at all. Has happened for decades. From start to finish they last about 20 min to a half hour. Always a C shape, sometimes facing left, sometimes facing right.It doesn't interfere with my reading the whole time, but definitely at a certain point I am unable to read. I can still see, but cannot read.

Pretty close to what mine are like. They start on one side and then spread across my field of vision, gradually clearing up where they started first. Usually last 15-30 minutes.

My first one was when I was about 18, didn't happen again for a long time, maybe the next one was about when I was 40. Then they were pretty regular for a stretch, every 2-3 months, then they stopped a few years ago.

Seemed to me like like diesel fumes or exhaust could trigger them, but not all the time.

Never came with a headache, but they were a nuisance if I was on a driving trip having to stop and wait.
