Someone I care about deeply has diabetes so knowledge is a power that's always welcome.

That’s too bad. It’s not easy to talk to people about these things. And when asking doctors about Popular medical misconceptions been told “that’s just what we say to the patients” “so they don’t go to other doctors.” But every doctor I ever asked told me diabetes comes from muscle shut down caused by inactivity. More than one have also told me the belief that kids get a “sugar high” is completely made up. According to any doctor I have ever asked why my blood sugar is always the same no matter what I eat, they all said blood sugar only changes 5-10% tops and anyone who sees wider variations than that because of what they eat has something wrong. They specifically told me that studies have been conducted involving kids who were constantly monitored for blood sugar changes at fake parties where they ate candy, cake and drank sugary drinks and all of these studies have proven that kids blood sugar does not change when they eat sugar and that the “sugar high” is made up. They also told me that these studies got the same results with adults and that it’s bad for business to insist that type 2 diabetes is caused by insulin receptor shut dow from muscle inactivity. They even said in the 70’s and 80’s doctors started losing patients when doctor shopping became a common practice. It’s amazing what a doctor can tell you in three and a half minutes of you ask them.

Good doctors anyway. Bad doctors will either shut down questions or get all condescending. Some of them act offended or personally insulted when a patient shows knowledge of or interest in their own condition.

I don’t know. Any time I showed knowledge, I got yelled at and cursed at because my knowledge was wrong. In fact, most of the doctors I’ve ever seen were right whenever it mattered. You can’t let other people try to peer pressure you into having medical conditions that are ruled out by modern testing. I know as many people who insist they have things that were ruled out as I do people who actually have things. It’s dangerous to seek out treatments that more than one doctor says you don’t need. Especially these days when all they care is billing for another patient. It’s not the same world of doctors discounting everything today—now it’s all if they get paid, they’ll maim you with unnecessary treatments.

I was talking about when I show that I know what I'm talking about with conditions that I have been repeatedly proven to have. Peer pressure has zero to do with science. Everyone's experience is different I guess but if any doctor ever had the audacity to yell or curse at me I certainly would not return to that provider.

I had relatives tell me I have diabetes. But I have never in my life had an abnormal blood sugar test. Even after intentionally eating sugary food before the test. People are crazy once their minds are poisoned by the belief that diseases can hide. I also have been told I have secret dental problems when I’ve had one cavity in the last 30 years!!! Really, people are crazy in their misbeliefs.

I have relatives who doctors told flat out “if you still think you have celiac disease, you need to see a psychiatrist.” Trust me, a lot of people WANT to be sick. And they will convince themselves they have something they don’t. Like celiac. If you have it, it’s impossible to be a normally formed adult. If you don’t have it and eliminate all wheat, it causes permanent digestive damage. A lot of people imagine things they don’t have, and completely ignore what they really do have. Illness is not by choice—it’s something that is tested for. If you have been tested several times and still want an illness, you have serious problems. There are no illnesses capable of escaping the tests in 2018, except maybe Morgellen’s disease. Nothing else will escape testing in today’s world. And nothing can cause serious impairment without showing up in blood tests. It’s just not possible in today’s world.

Ugh, I used to be a sugar addict, but in the last year I've drastically cut back. And now I find I can't tolerate much sugar, and real sweet things are now repulsive to me. That would make me sick lol

You know I thought it would be super hard, but it really wasn't. I still eat sugar, I just cut way back. I used to drink as much as three liters of soda a day, plus super sweet tea, and eat a fair amount of candy and sweets. But I knew I was going to end up ruining my health, so I decided to start with sodas one day, and didn't allow myself more than one 12oz can a day. It didn't take long to get used to it, and now I often don't drink the whole can and sometimes skip a day. And honestly the soda seems too sweet after I drink a little. Next I decided to reduce the sugar in my tea, so now it's just sweet tea and not syrup lol. And I just don't crave sweet stuff like I used to, so I don't eat much. But I've lost some weight and do feel some better because of it. I'm no pillar if healthy eating though lol
