Outside of school, my study has been observation and reading. In the 60's, I watched some short films from Disney, Warner Bros, Walter Lantnz and other cartoon giants about the animation process. What really hooked me, though, was a Program called Discovery '6# (the last number correlating with the year it was broadcast) It was ABCs attempt at educational Television for kids before Action for Childrens Television got into the picture. Afternoon program with different topics every day. They did an excellent one on Animation. I kept all of that information tucked away in my brain, next to my porn information. (my cousin calls me a data packrat) Fast forward to the 21st century and I decided to put that data to work. I tried a couple of animated GIF programs and started animating. Usually a 4 to 10 frame animation, but I have done larger (largest had over 400 frames) I hit the animation groups fast and furious, and surprised them with the skills I had. I tore apart other members animations, frame by frame, to see how they did it. I learned how to trim the size of a GIF down from 1 megabyte to 35K, and why they looked better. I took a rip (video to gif) from Gone with the Wind, and streamlined it adding my own little something. This is what I got. I'll post this tomorrow, but https://i.imgflip.com/1rf34g.gif is how it turned out.
