Club gets to 1/2 way down and (via the body turn) works out and over (covers) ball. Delivers more compression, a more powerful trajectory and traps golf ball between clubface and ground
"Cover the Ball" ...it best understood if you envision the action pulling a blanket over a child when putting them to bed ...it is not hooding the ball with the clubface
Hands must first drop into the space created by the left hip turn and pelvic bend ...this will initiate the proper shallow swing plane and put more rotary power into the strike
Mike Malaska calls this cover move an "inside over the top" ...ingrain this move with the hockey shot drill where the hands are split and the butt of grip pivots over the left hip
