Brian D. Hales is an amateur historian / polygamy apologist that is hired by the Church to create a more cohesive narrative around the polygamy that is attributed to Joseph Smith, Jr. He is known for cherry picking his sources, misrepresenting this that disagree with him, and reporting those that disagree as apostates to the Church (he is in the Strengthening the Members Committee and he has done this against others)
