During the movie for the anime Puella Magi Madoka Magica, the character Mami Tomoe had a mental breakdown when she discovered that she and her four friends were slaves to a higher power, with no path to freedom other than death. To that end, she shoots Kyouko, one of her own teammates, then proclaims through tears: "We have no choice but to die!" she is them shot by Akemi Homura, one of her own teammates. This meme is to be used as, more or less, an edgy joke.
