And God called the dry [land] Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he SEAS: and God saw that [it was] good."~ Gen. 1:9,10; According to the Bible, the Firmament (the heavens) was created in the midst of the waters of the Great Deep, and all of the waters that were UNDER the Firmament became our Seas/Oceans. Notice they were gathered together unto ONLY ONE PLACE: downward in order to reveal the Earth/dry land (which was also situated in the Great Deep).
