There has been a fair amount of people get butthurt over the fact that JJ Abrams decided to not use any of the Expanded Universe for episode 7, regardless of the fact that less than 1% of all the other movies had anything to do with the EU. If you ask me, the real tragedy with The Force Awakens is that none of the script that George Lucas wrote was used. Lucas never used any of the story lines from the EU to write any of his scripts. He might have used a couple names of planets, the table on the Falcon, and a couple other minor things, but nothing that had significant value to the story actually being told in the films. The people who were butthurt over the EU not being used would have rather had 7 be focused more around the Alliance pilots than anything else the other 6 movies focused on.
