Neither system works effectively. They are both flawed systems because of greed.

Would you consider one more greedy?

Capitalism fosters greed, hence the disparity between rich and poor; private citizens are more greedy than in a socialist system. In socialism, the government does not foster greed, but greed is a consequence of the politicians who control the centralized government as they take more and more away from the citizens. So one system is not more greedy than the other.

You contradicted yourself there. One fosters greed and one does not, so one is more greedy. Especially considering the greedy corporate sector and government are indirectly the same financial entity.

I did. And you're right, corporations are greedy. Under a socialist system, nothing would really change. Taxes would skyrocket to pay for all the government programs and "free stuff," leaving us common people even more poor.

That's not the case in a well managed country with social models. Under a socialist system, with higher minimum wage, quality of life increases, crime lowers, incarceration lowers, and all the associated costs would greatly diminish. You are encouraging disparity.

You're not understanding what I'm saying.

Capitalism fosters greed. It is very easy to cheat the system. It benefits the rich and disparages the poor. I'll grant you that. Socialism, however, also encourages disparity by distributing money to those the system thinks needs it. So, if the system thinks because I am white that I need to have less money than a minority group, that's disparity. It's also prejudice and racism. But no, "everyone needs to be equal." No. The maxim should be, "All humans are equal, but some humans are more equal than others."

"So, if the system thinks because I am white that I need to have less money than a minority group, that's disparity. It's also prejudice and racism." In what fantasy land do you think whites would be considered to 'need' to have less money than a minority? That is one of the most ridiculous statements I've seen. If you are afraid of minority groups (non whites) having social equality, then you are racist.

I'm not afraid. Speaking from experience.

Cool, you're welcome to give examples of how the system has decided whites aren't allowed to have as much money as a minority group.

Also, if you are willing to treat me as a fellow human being with a differing opinion, and not portray yourself as insensitive and uncaring, then I'll be more than glad to explain why I feel this way thru my experiences.

Go for it. I'm very interested.

Ok, so I worked in retail for 9+ years, and I fell into hard times. I applied for food stamps to help pay for my apartment. I made $10,000 a year, and I was rejected for making too much money; the government would only give me $130 a month for food. In the meantime, I see minority groups coming in with food stamps and PURCHASING cigarettes with their food stamp cards, boasting about how they don't have to work cause the government gives them money, and that really upset me. Ok, so I guess I worded my posts wrong. The system is being abused and nothing is done about it. Socialism won't fix it, either.

Thanks for your example. I strongly believe what you experienced is a result of how groups or classes or races of people are used to cause tension between each other. Your focus should be on the cause of that disparity and not the groups themselves, otherwise it will feed more disparity and hatred. Socialism can and does reduce that lower class tension, so people can focus on real issues.

Thank you for your input. Your insight was valuable.

You're welcome. I still don't think socialism is the answer, but you made great points.
