True, and neither the cassette or the 8 track were ever the same again! I still buy CDs, I don't do streaming because I would go bankrupt real quick, I can control my spending (impulse buys) a bit more if I'm at a physical store picking up a real disc.

Then, I back up my CDs to both the hard drive of my computer and a portable hard drive so that if the disc ever does get scratched or damaged I can burn a replacement. Actually, now the only place that I actually play a CD is in my car. My current car is so old it doesn't have a jack for me to plug in my MP3 player. Hopefully my next car will.

Yeah, that was LPs, and those really took a shit fast, as did the needles, but they're making a comeback.

That was me at 16 - 21 years old, about the last time I owned a turntable. I guess that I might be more careful now.

I just got 300 plus vynal from my folks. Well moms was donated but dads collection...in his words; "drugs bought those records" 70's ,n 80's stuff. And I inherated a 1974 Oracle turn table, made of glass, Music the way music should be heard.

That is awesome, besides the sentimental value, that's got to be worth some "scratch" (see what I did there?).

Your Dad's quote is priceless...does that mean that he was a dealer...or was he under the influence when he bought them?

And yes, the quality was different, usually better, with the right system.

He grew that B.C. hydro skunk that won the world over in the 80's n 90's. You could smell it a mile away. What he used to do was buy the records then dump em down to cassette n listen to those. I was never allowed to toch the records. So when I was there in spring, he asked, in his gruff monotone voice; "you want my records?". YUP! Mint condition, no scratches, rarely used. Floyd, Zeppelin, Zappa, Greatfull Dead, name it. Plus aalotta shit you had to be "waxed" to listen to.
