Out of 50?

When you get something like 35% only to realisethe maximun it was halved from 100% into 50% and multiplying the 50% into 100% gets you 70%, thus you didn't really get a low score.

So out of 50 possible points, 35. So 70 percent of the possible points (which should always total 100%).

When you're talking about an assessment, you should - assuming your teacher is not a complete troll - always be able to get 100% of the possible points. Therefore, there is no such thing as "out of 50%." You meant out of 50 points. Percentages are different than points.

In my school system, they use out of 50% but normally only when an exam is only half of the course.
