The Oregon "militiamen" are already out of food and are asking for snacks to be sent to them through the FEDERAL Post Office (note the irony.) Looks like they're the opposite of "well-regulated"! Maybe they can eat their guns?

they want to use federal land for profit without paying US (the taxpayers, the OWNERS of the Federal land) to do so. 2 of them committed arson on federal land to cover up their poaching. They want free handouts on our dime.

LOOK UP SEDITION. That's what they are.

Yeah they hate the Feds so much...except when they need money.

Ammon Bundy runs a Phoenix-based company called Valet Fleet Services LLC, which specializes in repairing and maintaining fleets of semitrucks throughout Arizona. On April 15, 2010—Tax Day, as it happens—Bundy's business borrowed $530,000 through a Small Business Administration loan guarantee program.

This in an honest question: Should the public land of Oregon (over 50% of the entire state of Oregon is owned by the feds) be instead owned by Oregon?

I can't answer that since I don't live in Oregon. Oregon voters should tell the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House to release the “unappropriated territory” to the management and ownership of their own state government.

As an outsider, especially from the East, I'd say NO....have you seen what a mess it is over here? See what happens when you give states control over federal land?

Utah has tried and failed. Most other states in the west are also trying.

What kind of problems with state land do you have out there? I'm in the midwest, and out here the feds own very little land, but we also do not have problems with the states owning the public lands.

States sell it off to the highest (or lowest if you're friends with the right politicians) bidder and it becomes overgrown commercialized hell.

If there is copper or uranium or oil, the Feds will also dirty deals to highest bidder or bribes.
The San Carlos Apache tribe, for example, is fighting in Arizona to save Oak Flat, which includes Apache Leap, a sacred site, from being mined after a land swap was slipped into the must-pass National Defense Authorization Act.

Oregon is so treasured and traveled because of its beautiful public lands. Some of which are lands taken from local tribes during the Termination Period (which violated all trusts and treaties) Some of the tribes got some land back when restored. Some none. They are still litigating. Also, there are some provisions made for them to buy their land back and some are struggling to do piece by piece. Why would the state have a right to it, before any of this is settled?
