Am I the only one who sometimes thinks this?

no, there has been interesting investigations on people's perception of colour. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/tv/entries/24bbc4b8-58f9-373d-a896-274ae453ef2a a bit of light reading on it, about 1/4 down the page, just past a very loud shirt it talks about an african tribe with different concepts of colour. it is also proposed that blue was not "discovered" until the last few hundred years - that i am not so sure of, but it is interesting to learn that different languages created words for colours in almost the same order worldwide
