A little late, but I never understood this verse of "Can you see what I see"

I'm no theologian (but I play one on TV), but I think that it shows the "ignorance" (for lack of a better word) of the people of that time (and maybe even now) who throw money at a problem rather than giving what's needed (like you said).

Same thing with the Three Wise Men who gold, frankincense, and myrrh to Jesus. Hopefully, He regifted that shit!
