(i'm guessing) a response to the stupid, overly religious and outdated, yet somehow still popular belief that you can "pray the gay away" in homosexuals, and that by them leading a pure and christian life their chance of eternal life may be redeemed, or even that god will perform a miracle and make them straight while they're alive

Yeah that happened to Antoine Dodson (hide yo kids...) He renounced his lifestyle in the name of religion. I'm atheist so I don't really care for that debate.

ah ok. i don't really know the source of a lot of memes. depends how strict your religious background is, it may be a change in lifestyle or it may be an intensive "camp" setting with borderline physical and mental torture and abuse. i would call myself spiritual, but certainly not religious and that whole concept is just absurd
