Before I get flooded with "IT'S JUST A MOVIE!!!111" I have a hard time believing an entire army of elite soldiers with the two most powerful Sith Lords in the galaxy get beaten by a small militia of rebels

Oh I get it now! You're saying "should" in the sense of what was more physically possible, not necessarily in the sense of what was morally good and right.
