Erm ... He's talking about the US, so 240 years would be about right.

Perhaps totalitarian socialism might be deemed communism (at least in relatively recent experience), but democratic socialism is something else entirely.

Yeah? Where did he say that? And no, the US isn't the source of Capitalism. It's been around since 1300 ad or so.

The US is also NOT in a neo-feudalistic society at this point. AND socialism is just the first step to communism and not something to desire for our country.

And no, democratic socialism will still just lead us to communism. Socialism is ALWAYS the transitional state OF communism.

I think you guys just like hearing that it will fix our problems from people on the left so much that you actually believe it. :{

I think it is pretty obviously inferred from what he wrote.

And France started out as a socialist republic after their revolution and I wouldn't go so far as to say that they have seen a slide into communism.

Please don't fall for the equal and opposite error of believing all that anti-communist propaganda which still enslaves the majority at the behest of the crazily wealthy few.

France didn't "start out" as socialist. lol It started out as a colony and then turned into a monarchy. lol

And in 1870 French Socialism was replaced with a Parliamentary Republic after a brief stint of a radical socialist group called the Paris Commune. Commune? I wonder what they meant by that? Hmm... Communism maybe?

Communism just doesn't work. It SOUNDS great on paper but not in practice. Stop being so naive as to think that socialism/communism is the answer to the world's problems. It's not. :{

And as I said before, socialism is not a necessary precursor to communism. Why do you willfully misinterpret what people say? I wrote 'France started out as a socialist republic AFTER their revolution.'. They did not become a communist state and saying that using the word commune meant it was communism is like saying America can only be a democracy if it's run by democrats.

I don't think communism sound great on paper or in reality. Like all monolithic political systems that rely on a powerful elite telling the rest of us what is good for us it is easily corruptible by the selfishness of the human heart.

But then Capitalism based on the pure market principles sounds good on paper as well, like the 'trickle down' effect. The problem with it is that it is based on a self-centred approach which also plays straight into the corruption of the human condition. This produces vast disparity between the rich and the poor. This is bad enough within nations, but when it is played out on the international stage it leads to nothing but trouble through envy and fear.

Capitalism only works if you have continued growth. We only have one planet with limited resources so obviously this is not sustainable for everyone. Do the maths.

I didn't misinterpret anything, willfully or otherwise. You were wrong and I pointed it out.

A Parliamentary Republic isn't a socialist republic. You're simply wrong.

They were a colony first, then became a monarchy. Do some more research on France's government.

I didn't say that the Paris Commune was in fact communism. I was pointing out the obvious path that socialism was taking in France before the Parliamentary Republic was installed. And you try and claim I'M willfully misinterpreting you? ROFL!

The ONLY thing wrong with capitalism is that WE THE PEOPLE let it become corrupted with the Federal Reserve and "world/central banks". That's it. Do more research next time and don't just buy into the media's agendas.

You're sounding like you just believe everything those same corrupt groups are telling you through media.

The Earth is no where near overpopulated and we still have more than enough resources at this point.

The theory of man made climate change is just more or the corruption we didn't stand up to lying to us. Volcanoes and the sun are causing climate change, not us.

Yeah pollution is bad, but it's not affecting the Earth as hard as we're told. That's to sell a carbon tax. Which is due to corruption of capitalism.

The Earth is stronger than you think and there isn't going to be a point where we pollute it to death or strip all the resources out of it. That's HW propaganda getting you to think stupid shit like Socialism is great! So the corruption can make a global gov. to consolidate its power/authority. *cough the UN!

Don't be so gullible. Socialism will only lead to communism and a failed state. Capitalism is great when people aren't all so distracted they let it corrupt. :{

I think you need to read what I actually wrote. Unless you're willing to do that then I don't see any point discussing things further.

As to my misinterpretation of your words: "Commune? I wonder what they meant by that? Hmm... Communism maybe?" Well I can't possibly imagine how that happened :-)

Implying I didn't read your comment before commenting on it just makes you look desperate to "win" the argument.

You're wrong. Flat out. You keep saying France "started out" as a socialist government. It didn't. I pointed that error out. You made excuses and tried to justify your error. You're just wrong though and should say you were wrong instead of arguing against factual history.

I still never said that the Paris Commune was in fact communism. You ASSUMED that's what I said to try and "win" an argument you had already lost.

You can keep responding to this argument all you want, but until you start using facts you're just going to keep looking ridiculous kid. :{
