it represents a stage between wishy-washy boy/girlfriend but not actually married/engaged. "my other half" or "my significant other" are very old fashioned terms these days, and don't always come across positively.
should two (+) people running a business call themselves something other than "business partners" because that is how many couples are, life partners sharing decisions and experiences
