They better not break the record. I don't think they could anyway, because the record is 126 mph.

Some say that a T1 Duplex (of the production version) could reach 140 mph... And that's the type of T1 that's being built... I'm also against breaking the world record, simply because the T1's were only really known in the Eastern USA, and because they weren't so succesful...

The weight to power ratio would have to be severely tweaked to reach even 130. I may be a little biased because i absolutely detest our steam locomotive designs.

Not even succesful locomotives in the USA? Like the Union Pacific Big Boys and Challengers, Southern Pacific Cab Forwards, etc?

Don't even get me started on the forward cab design. I can see the practicality, sure, but it makes the engine look stupid

No. I hate how....industrial they look. One of my favorite British designs is the Peppercorn A1.

I love British steam too, but I prefer American... Well, exept for the S1, Q1 and T1 Duplexes... :P

The industrial look is what makes American steam locomotives look awesome to me. It makes them look powerful and rugged.

I prefer the elegant yet powerful designs of British steam. What about Diesel engines?
