lay some toilet paper across the water first. i saw this on some "this will change your life" video, and it really did. i shit you not :P . i've been doing it this last week, staying at my parents' place and toilet is too close living areas. nullifies splashback and reduces noise. depending on the load, you may need to refresh that paper covering.
