I don't think it's intellectually easier. I think it's more of a moral issue.

If we deny God's existence, we can fool ourselves that we won't be judged after this life. And while that's obviously a false comfort, it can seem to be very appealing. On some level, all of us know that we have fallen far short of the righteous life that God requires.

There is so much scripture on this topic.. with enormous depth. It's not intellectually easier for believers, we accept Christ. Atheist are not as consistent, in my experiences. Some indeed find it easier to deny God because it's easier to conduct their life w/o judgment. I agree with you on this point. But I find some look at God's existence through science. . And ignore the philosophical wisdom in scripture that I find has to be inspired by a creator with wisdom we can't comprehend. Isaiah 55:8-9 says His thoughts are above our thoughts.we accept this.. but some non-believers find it easier to accept scientific theories. This is easier in many respects. It requires little thought to just accept science because they are already skeptical. It's easy for an athiest to "cherry pick" and discredit a verse.. it's more difficult to look at associated verses and be open to their deeper meanings. IMHO. Then again.. to simply deny judgment is an easy way out too. I feel sorry for them. Within seconds of their life ending, they will have an eternity to regret what their life choices were. I am not saintly,.. but I would rather gamble with 70, 80, or 90 yrs of my life to be wrong,.. rather than risk eternity.

You're right, it is a deep issue. I'm not sure I see it exactly the way you do, but I'll think about what you wrote, about how scientific issues seem easier to accept than the deeper wisdom of God.

What actions are you hoping people will take based on this meme, or in what way are you hoping to change people's thinking? (I hope you don't mind the question.)

We all have independent thoughts, that may not follow the same path.. but some thoughts like you and I are in the same direction. I would hope this meme inspires thought, with an open mind on both sides. Our exchange had "reason".. and not everyone will see a msg the same way, as we see in the up - down buttons. It's to be expected, it's our gift. If we all thought alike, this meme business would not be very successful. I hope to see "debate".. not "hate". This meme was in response to an atheist themed meme yesterday, and my own interactions with a non believing friend. It's easy to accept a "big - bang theory",.. rather than think about "how was this possible by fluke". . Especially by the hands of someone we can't see or interact with.

You seem to be better able to understand the atheist's view than I do. To me it seems "obvious" that God created everything. It's good that you can see from their point of view.

I dunno if I see it from their point.. because I dunno if they all have a point. Not all Christians agree either. . I have heard some "interesting" interpretation of verses. But some atheist. . Are just too hateful to talk to. They have it figured out and don't want to hear anything else for a second. I agree w/you.. to me it's obvious.

Definitely some atheists are easier to talk to than others! That's for sure. :)

The meme was referencing "militant" atheist. I find this group to be the nasty, mocking types. Not all are the same,.. nor agnostics. I have close friend who is agnostic. He was originally a bit more of the militant atheist type. In our conversations on this subject, we were always respectful of each others beliefs and opinions. We don't attempt to "convert" each other, and he has accepted my prayer in times of his personal trials. We joke on each other.. never insulting each other.
