Must...point out...that it actually comes from barbaros which is Greek fro foreign. And yeah Barbarian comes from that same root word but the name Barbara isn't from barbarian. Now I'm off to nitpick something else! Swoosh! :)

Both spellings are correct... I have seen the spelling 'Barbra' before but also know women named 'Barbara.'
